Farkas hails from Mississauga, Ontario and played youth and junior hockey for the Royal Nationals and the Mississauga Reps both of the Metropolitan (now Greater) Toronto Hockey League.
Farkas served in the capacity of Head Coach of the Mississauga Reps Midget AAA, and St. Mikes Midget AAA in the GTHL throughout the 1986-1993 seasons. After relocating to the United States in 1993, Farkas assumed the position of Head Coach of the Central Pittsburgh Midget AAA team. Farkas wrapped up his Pittsburgh coaching career at Shadyside Academy Prep School.
In 2009 Farkas and his family relocated to North Carolina where he has held various coaching and player development positions with the University of North Carolina and the Carolina Junior Hurricanes AAA organization. In 2012 Coach Farkas joined the East Coast Eagles as the Empire Team Head Coach. Additionally, Coach Farkas has participated as an evaluation coach for Hockey Canada U17 and Team Ontario Prospects Camp and continues to serve as a scout for the Ontario Hockey League.
Coaching Philosophy:
I pursue excellence for my players through creating a culture of hard work and accountability. I believe in teaching and empowering players, being honest about their deficiencies and offering solutions to improve.
I coach a 200 foot game. My aim is to deliver players to the next level prepare to contribute in all facets of the game. Passion for the game and continuous learning and improvement is what drives me every day.
